Kromvlei Guest House is situated on 652 hectares of farmland, on the edge of the Bokkeveld Escarpment. The farm itself is a perfect place to unwind, whether you prefer to hike through the fynbos, explore the craggy edge of the escarpment, or just relax on the stoep of the cottage with a glass of Cape wine while looking at the waterfowl paddling on the vlei.
Attractions on Kromvlei Farm include:
- An enormous diversity of fynbos — much of the farm remains undeveloped veld.
- A vlei on the doorstep of your cottage, with another one closer to the escarpment. Both are home to a variety of waterfowl.
- The farm is right on the edge of the escarpment, and offers spectacular views down the cliffs to the Knersvlakte below.
- Rooibos fields, vineyards for wine grapes, sheep and cattle.
- Stargazing in an area with virtually no light pollution.
As you travel away from the farm to explore the greater Nieuwoudtville region, the following activities are all within 30 minutes to an hour's drive of Kromvlei Guest House:
- Spring flower drives
- Hantam Botanical Garden
- The Nieuwoudtville Waterfall
- The Nieuwoudtville Wildflower Reserve
- Day hikes and 4-7 day hiking trails at Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve
- The quiver tree (kokerboom) forest
